Red Wine
The Pio Cesare winery was founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio. He was one of the very first wine producers to believe in the great potential and quality of Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and in the other great wines of Piemonte. The grapes are sourced from family owned vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, Grinzane Cavour, La Morra and Barolo–Novello.  Aged in French oak for 3 years prior to release.
Deliciously tempting on the nose with hints of violets, blackberry jam, liquorice and cloves.   Cherry and pomegranate show on the palate with cinnamon spice, sage and pine hints.  Dry yet refined tannins round out the wine.
Food pairing:  Veal saltimbocca
