Red Wine
The Avignonesi winery, covering 200 hectares of vineyards, is located on the north-eastern slopes of the historic town of Montepulciano in southern Tuscany.  In April 2011, Avignonesi applied for organic certification of the entire estate.  This started a mandatory 3-year certification period during which we must observe all the principles of organic viticulture.  Full certification will be granted in 2016.  However, they have decided to go one step further and apply a biodynamic approach to their vineyards.  The Avignonesi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a selection of Sangiovese from all of their vineyards in Montepulciano, creating a multifaceted wine that is a true expression of the terroir.  Aged for 18 months in oak and 9 months in the bottle before release.
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is brick red in colour, bursting with notes of bright, red fruits, dried violets and hints of savoury spice. The taste is medium-bodied and balanced with luscious acidity and tart cherry flavours, complemented by a long savoury finish.
Food pairing:  Tagliatelle  with fennel and lamb ragu
