The Avignonesi winery, covering 200 hectares of vineyards, is located on the north-eastern slopes of the historic town of Montepulciano in southern Tuscany.  In April 2011, Avignonesi applied for organic certification of the entire estate.  This started a mandatory 3-year certification period during which we must observe all the principles of organic viticulture.  Full certification will be granted in 2016.  However, they have decided to go one step further and apply a biodynamic approach to their vineyards.  This Rosso di Montepulciano undergoes 9 months of ageing in large oak cask before 3 months of bottle ageing prior to release.

Medium ruby red in colour, the Rosso di Montepulciano is bursting with bright aromas of strawberry, raspberry and pomegranate.  Notes of violets and rose petals compliment the flavours of cherry, red currant and white pepper.  A delicate finish of sage and thyme lingers on the tongue.
