Marlborough, New Zealand
Hawksdrift is a family owned vineyard, located in the Dillons Point region of Marlborough. The Dillons Point area is in the East of Marlborough, near the sea coast. It lies close to sea level and has deep, fertile soils. Shelter from the Wither Hills range, contributes to a long, hot ripening season, meaning, the fruit is left to ripen when other, cooler areas have shut down. This long hang time develops fully ripened summer flavours in the fruit. This Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in seasoned French oak barrels before being aged for 10 months in oak.
A more reserved style of Marlborough Sauvignon, the nose is rounder than most with notes of gooseberry, pear and fresh herbs. The palate is fuller and more rounded, classic tropical fruit notes are contained by vanilla and oak spice. The finish is refreshing with a pineapple acidity.
