Pulenta was founded by brothers Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta in 2002, when they purchased some ancient, forgotten vineyards in Alto Agrelo, one of the prime quality areas for wine production in Lujn de Cuyo, the heartland of Mendoza - just to be clear, this is the best part of the best region in the country ... so quite a find.

Located at 980 metres above sea-level, Pulenta Estate enjoys excellent growing conditions with meltwater from the Andes Mountains combining with intense sunlight and cooling mountain breezes which stop the grapes ripening too quickly, giving a deeper, more intense flavour.

The estate focusses on Malbec, Argentina’s signature variety, along with other classic grape varieties, planted on 135 hectares. Gran Corte VII blends 37% Malbec together with Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Merlot (23%), Petit Verdot (10%) and Tannat (5%).

The richly expressive nose marries spice and cherry, blackcurrant and mocha . An extraordinarily long palate unfolds to reveal flavours of ripe damsons, blackberries and dark chocolate, with coffee, vanilla and liquorice notes in concentrated, full-bodied, supple and deep wine which will age well. There is considerable structure here, but no more than you'd hope for in one of Argentina's finest wines - and it carries its depth and power with surprising elegance compared to many other big reds from this region.
